High Collagen Strawberry Smoothie

Why I created this

In order to incorporate collagen into my diet, I decided to add collagen powder to my smoothie. A smoothie is probably the quickest and easiest way to consume a lot of fruits and vegetables in a delicious manner.

Adding collagen in a smoothie adds an additional health boost to an already loaded smoothie.

Recipe rundown

Scrape down the sides of the blender, if necessary.

Add all the ingredients (bananas, strawberries, ice cubes, and collagen powder) to a blender.

Blend until you achieve a smooth consistency. You may have to pause the blender to scrape down the sides. Also, make sure the collagen powder has fully dissolved into the smoothie

Pour into a bowl, and top with blackberries, coconut flakes, and cacao nibs to your preference.

Ingredient Variations

  • Add chia seeds for additional fiber.
    • Hemp seeds and flax seeds are other options.
  • Add leafy greens to add an additional source of healthy prebiotic fibers.
    • An organic spring mix of leafy greens such as baby spinach, kale, chard, collard greens provides a diverse set of prebiotics and nutrients.
    • Note that the color of the smoothie will change. The taste may slightly change as well.
  • Add non-dairy milk to add another flavor and/or to make the smoothie thinner.
    • Almond milk or coconut milk can work well.

My favorite toppings: blackberries, coconut flakes, and cacao nibs!!

Helpful tips

  • Can I use fresh fruit? Yes, you can use fresh fruit. However, keep in mind that using frozen fruit gives the smoothie a frostier, creamier, and thicker texture.
  • How do I adjust texture? For a thicker consistency, try adding more ice. For a thinner consistency, use less ice or feel free to add a little bit of a dairy-free milk of your choice.
  • Flash freezing fruit: Place the fruit on a tray or a cutting board and place in the freezer for around 2-4 hours, or until solid. Make sure the fruits aren't touching each other or else they may get stuck together while freezing.
  • Freezing fruit overnight: You can freeze fruit overnight, but just be cautious of freezer burn if you decide to freeze for any time significantly longer. Freezer burn could affect the taste and texture of the fruit.
